Tuesday July 2, 2024, the Olympic flame since JO Paris 2024 is passing through the North. It will circulate from Tourcoing to Roubaix the afternoon. The departure will be at 2:45 p.m. from Tourcoing center to arrive around 4:45 p.m. at the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux in Roubaix. With almost 9 km, it is the longest journey of the flame in the North! On his journey, numerous traffic and parking restrictions are planned from Monday 1is July, pay attention to your travels!

The passage of the Olympic flame in Roubaix will be short, it crosses the city between 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. to land at 4:49 p.m. very precisely according to the organization, remaining only 5 minutes before joining Lille.

An Olympic village at the Sports Park

We will be able to watch it pass on the course, but the sporting spirit will be present all day long in the city! Because at the Sports Park, sports activities are planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A real Olympic village is being organized with Sport dans la Ville. Come and take part in numerous sporting challenges and try to win medals!

From 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m., a giant picnic will bring together children from Roubais schools, before the “City in Games” opening ceremony. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.: sporting activities led by the Sport dans la Ville association, Roubaisian sports clubs and the City’s sports educators for children from Roubais schools and

On this occasion, the students from the Gambetta school who won the “La Danse des Jeux” academic competition will present their talents!

3 flame bearers

At 4:45 p.m., the flame will arrive at the Vélodrome and will be successively carried, within the Sports Park, by Haïtham Raissouni, young person from the Sport dans la Ville association, Philippe Oddou, founding president of Sport dans la Ville and Victoire Berteau, French champion and vice-European cycling champion and member of the French team heading to the Olympics.

The public will be invited to participate in the athletic parade leading from the André Pétrieux velodrome, 130 avenue du Parc des Sports, to the heart of the STAB velodrome, 59 rue Alexandre Fleming.

Entrance to the Sports Park will be from 2 p.m.:

• for the general public: via avenue du Parc des sports, central grandstand door

• for people with reduced mobility: via the historic arch, rue de Lannoy, and via avenue Maxence Van Der Meersch

• from 5:30 p.m., for the athletic ball at Stab, via Avenue Maxence Van Der Meersch.

Parking will be made available to the public on the land located opposite the Carihem rugby site (former ground).

An athletic and inclusive ball with 60 athletes

To end the day at 6 p.m., an athletic ball will take place at the Stab velodrome bringing together nearly 60 athletes and disabled athletes from Roubaix. It was imagined and choreographed by Sylvain Groud, director of the National Choreographic Center Roubaix – Hauts-de-France.

Clubs and sportsmen from Roubais were thus contacted for this choreography featuring several disciplines – boxing, rugby, haka, cycling, football, basketball, athletics and breaking. Around ten sports scenes danced by around sixty people.

Traffic and parking

Such an event leads to very complicated traffic and parking, starting Monday July 1st.

On the path of the flame : parking prohibited from 8 p.m. on July 1 until July 2 inclusive and driving prohibited from 6 a.m. on July 2.

In the adjacent streetsalong the path of the flame: traffic prohibited from 6 a.m. on July 2 except local residents

In front of the Maxence Vandermeersch collegeparking prohibited from 6 a.m.

and traffic prohibited from 10 a.m. on July 2.

The streets of the flame route are:

  • reunion street
  • Union Avenue
  • Republic Boulevard
  • Alsace avenue
  • rue de l’Alma
  • avenue Jean-Lebas (station area)
  • avenue Foch (city center)
  • avenue André Diligent
  • rue Jouffroy
  • avenue Motte (part in front of the Vélodrome)

The streets around this route will be blocked to traffic:

  • rue des métissages
  • Admiral Courbet Street
  • West Street
  • rue de la Lys
  • rue du general Sarrail
  • rue Pierre Motte
  • rue Vincent Auriol
  • almost all the streets perpendicular to rue Jouffroy (including rue Achille Scrépel and chemin Neuf)
