The Côte-d’Or department will host 3 stages of the 2024 Tour de France, on July 4, 5 and 6
2024 :

  • Thursday July 4 – 6th stage (163.5 km): Mâcon (71) – Dijon
  • Friday July 5 – 7th stage (23.5 km): individual time trial between Nuits-SaintGeorges and Gevrey-Chambertin
  • Saturday July 6 – 8th stage (183.4 km): Semur-en-Auxois – Colombey-les-deux-Eglises (52)

State services and all the communities concerned are mobilized to guarantee the security of the event and facilitate its organization.

More than 1,230 gendarmes, 190 national police officers, 353 firefighters and 4 civil security associations will be deployed on the ground. Agents from the National Forestry Office and the French Biodiversity Office will also patrol to ensure the protection of the environment and sensitive natural areas. An operational command post will be activated by the Prefect of Côte-d’Or for each stage in order to coordinate the action of the services.

The progress of the stages will of course have a significant impact on traffic and parking in the sectors concerned. The roads used by the runners are entirely closed to traffic at least 1 hour before the passage of the tour advertising caravan.

Thursday July 4 – 6th stage (163.5 km): Mâcon (71) – Dijon

The Tour de France will enter Côte-d’Or in the early afternoon via the RD906, which will be closed to traffic at Corpeau from 12:30 p.m. The finish is scheduled for Cours Général de Gaulle in Dijon around 5:30 p.m.

The main axes impacted by the race are : RD973 – RD996 – RD968 – RD905 – M905 – M905B

On the ring road and the A39 motorway : exits 45 (University North and South) of the M274 (Rocade) will be closed between 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., exit 2 of the A39 in the Dijon-Dole direction from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The individual time trial will take place from 1:05 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Traffic and parking will be prohibited along the entire time trial route. which will complete a 25 km loop between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin, passing through Etang-Vergy, the Chambolle-Musigny valley and Morey-Saint-Denis.

The RD974 will be closed to heavy goods vehicles on July 5 from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m..

Other prohibition measures put in place for the 3 stages

  • The use of drones in the airspace of the Tour de France cycling race is strictly prohibited with the exception of drones belonging to the organizer, security forces and emergency services (prefectural decree no. 1041 of 06/26/2024)
  • The carrying, transport and use of entertainment fireworks and pyrotechnic devices of categories F1, F2, F3, T1, T2, P1, P2 are prohibited within a space of 100 meters on each side of the routes used by the Tour de France cycling race, on the day it passes through the department (prefectural decree no. 1041 of 06/26/2024).
  • Hunting is prohibited depending on the times of each stage in the territory of 15 municipalities (prefectural decree no. 1050 of 06/26/2024).
  • As a reminder, the main measures linked to the prevention of forest fires (prefectural decree no. 1170 of 07/27/2023) are:
    • It is prohibited to carry or light a fire inside and up to a distance of 200 meters from woods, forests, forest plantations, reforestation, moors, scrubland, including on the roads that cross them, from June 15 to October 15 inclusive of each year.
    • It is forbidden for any person to smoke in woods and forests, and up to a distance of 200 meters from them. […].
    • It is forbidden to carry fire or any incandescent material into protected areas, woods, forests, forest plantations, reforestation, moors, scrubland. During this period, barbecues, braziers or mechouis are prohibited.
