The Lyon ball, a real passion for some. In the bastide, a club has its training camp under the Fontanelles bowling alley. And his mixed doubles team has just shone at the Nouvelle-Aquitaine championships.

This is an event not to be missed for the mixed doubles, made up of Murielle Verdier and Eric Sourbets from Boule Lyonnaise Villeneuvoise: the Nouvelle-Aquitaine championship. The Villeneuvoise team was not the favorite during this event where the 5 champions from each department of Aquitaine meet for 2 qualifying places in the French championship which will take place in the coming weeks in Cabestany.

The Villeneuvois win 1re game against Mauzac 8 to 6, and lost against the formidable Pineuilh team 12 to 6 during the second meeting. In the play-off, the Bastide team meets Biarritz. An equally difficult and very close game: the Lot-et-Garonnais won 8 to 7, after having been led for a large part of this round.

During the semi-final opposing them to the mixed team from Jurançon, with their experience, the Villeneuvois won with panache with a clear score of 13 to 3.
The final, in front of a large audience and against the formidable Pineuilh team, went to the duo Murielle Verdier – Eric Sourbets after a hard-fought game and ended with a score of 13 to 12.

Eric Sourbets, president of the club, now has his eyes turned towards the rest of the season. “We are involved in the French team championship of sports associations. “We finished vice-champion of France in 2023. We are preparing for the final of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine league which will take place in the coming days. And we hope to repeat our performance last year in the French championship. And why not do even better…
