What are legislative elections?

Legislative elections are used to elect deputies. Deputies sit in the National Assembly. They are elected by direct universal suffrage by French voters registered on the electoral lists. The voting method is a 2-round majority vote. The next legislative elections will take place on June 29 and 30, 2024 for the 1is tour, and July 6 and 7, 2024 for the 2d tour.

Who can vote?

To be able to vote, you must be either:

  • a French citizen aged at least 18 the day before the vote
  • a citizen of another EU country aged 18 or over with the right to vote in their state of origin

In both cases, you must be domiciled in the municipality where you wish to vote and registered on the electoral lists of this municipality.
If you are French residing abroad and registered on a consular list, you can vote for the French constituency only if you are not registered on the complementary electoral list of another State of the European Union. In the event of double registration, it is the registration in your country of residence which will be taken into account.
For more information, we invite you to consult the website of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Proxy vote

It is now possible for voters to request a proxy in a partially paperless manner. Practical if you can’t get to the offices on the big day!

All up-to-date information can be found on the public service page.
