GOLF: Amiens golf takes its revenge on Bordeaux and is crowned champion of France

The Amiens Golf Course is experiencing a historic moment. The Mid Amateur Gentlemen team, which was in the final of the French championship in Dinard, won at the expense of Bordeaux this Sunday and offered itself the Puiforcat Trophy . It was played on June 23.

The Amiens golf club team continues its path to history. After having been in the first national men’s division for ten years (Trophée Gounouilhou, editor’s note), they now participate in the so-called “mid-height” category for those over 25. Amiens golfers were present at the Golf de Dinard since last Monday to represent the city, and the least we can say is that they did it well. Since their rise to the first division in 2019, the team has never exceeded the quarter-finals. This year, they managed to break through that glass ceiling and to climb until the very prestigious final with only one goal in mind: the Puiforcat Trophy.

To win it, they had to get rid of the Bordeaux people, champions in 2019 and who had beaten Amiens in the quarter-finals in 2021. Julien Breart, captain of this team since the start of their rise, had decided to end his career on this last day. This represented a additional motivation for his teammates who gave everything to offer the best outing to their captain. Many people from Amiens made the trip to be able to encourage their team at this very important moment and on the eve of its centenary.
