Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire. New steering committee, same objectives at the ABS

The Sébastien Billiard Association (ABS), club of the departmental billiard committee, renewed its steering committee on Wednesday. The new ABS steering committee has been elected and consists of nine members, compared to four for the previous one. Philippe Guérin replaces Jean-Paul Dumonceau as president. The treasury remains entrusted to Alain Giraudet.

« Going from four to nine members, it will be easier for the steering committee to share the different tasks. The club will remain the same in its orientations. The objective is to work to better motivate young people and women and continue to organize more and more competitions, explains the new president, Philippe Guérin. In the past, billiards was a café game. Now it is a real sporting discipline. Billiards is above all a complete sport that requires a lot of self-control. »

Before recalling Albert Einstein’s definition: “Billiards constitute the supreme art of anticipation. It is not a game, but a complete artistic sport which requires, in addition to good physical condition, the logical reasoning of the chess player and the serene touch of the concert pianist… »

Meeting in the city’s schools

At the ABS, which has around fifty members, we are licensed to the French Billiard Federation. The club has seven leaders in its ranks, also certified by the Federation.

To help with training, the club can count on Vincent Lelièvre and Yannick La Gregam, who are the facilitators of the regional league. “To present billiards, as a possible choice of sporting activity for children, meetings will be offered in all the city’s schools, public and private. We will travel to present our sport and introduce the students to a suitable pool table. Then, we will offer them the opportunity to come and practice on our billiards tables. We currently have six billiards tables,” they explain.

All club members can access it at any time, as long as they have the access badge reserved for members.
