On the evening of the first round of the legislative elections, Nicolas Daragon, the LR mayor of Valence, indicated that he would not give any voting instructions. His candidate and first deputy on the 1re constituency of Drôme, Véronique Pugeat, had just been eliminated, leaving room for a duel between the New Popular Front and the National Rally. Two opposing parties and yet neck and neck in this constituency, since a small point separates them (32.41% against 31.08%).

“Valencia is today at a historic turning point”

So, the lack of a position taken by the mayor of Valence is very badly received on the left. In a message posted this Monday on Facebook, Jimmy Levacher, opposition elected official and LFI executive in Drôme, directly challenges the elected official, under the hashtag “Don’t mess around Nico”.

“Valence is today at a historic turning point: its constituency runs the risk of falling into the hands of hatred and rejection of the other. As mayor of our beautiful city, you must have a truly republican position and clearly call for a blockade of the RN, believes the Insoumis. It is no longer a question of politics but of morality. Do not be the mayor who has not taken a position.”
