The air conditioning doesn’t work, the freezer is off, no lights… In the Bordeaux metropolis this Sunday morning, we will have to learn to do without electricity. For how long ? Since 8:30 a.m. this Sunday morning a large-scale power cut has affected Bordeaux, as reported in the newspaper South West. These power cuts affected, at the peak of the incident, 120,000 homes in the Bordeaux metropolitan area and disrupted rail traffic, announced RTE and SNCF.
“An incident with as yet unidentified causes, leading the network to go “safe,” explained a spokesperson for RTE, manager of the high and medium voltage electricity network. “It’s like at home: when we see an incident on our network, it will automatically go into security and behind that can cause outages,” she declared.
On Twitter, RTE indicates that “all teams are mobilized and in the process of intervention”. Electricity has already been restored in some communities.
