the essential
After a very serious car accident, Arthur Reymond returned to the field to try to regain sensations. And it is in Montauban that he is playing his first final this Sunday since his accident. Full of hopes.

For a long, long time, the organizers believed in a small miracle, delaying the start of the meetings by half an hour, by half an hour; the miracle of playing the semi-finals of this anniversary Open on the central. Wasted effort. The heavens have decided otherwise, and it is finally at 1:30 p.m. that the two matches will begin simultaneously, with more than two hours late on the initial program, so as to avoid any further delay, with a doubles final in following.

It was therefore sheltered from the rain that the spectators, some of whom shuttled between the two courts, attended the matches, quietly seated on chairs installed in dispersed order. On the ground, they will ultimately witness two somewhat similar encounters, with identical scenarios. In the end, there wasn’t really any suspense, on either side. The surprise, if it really is one, comes from the finalist place of Arthur Reymond, very encouraged, and for good reason.

Arthur has come back from far, far away, after a car accident which kept him away from the field for a long time. Terrains that he has returned to for several months, in search of sensations, as he told us at the start of the week. These sensations, sure they were good this week, from the first match, and the success in two sets against the number 1 seed, the Italian L. Giustino. Enough to launch the one who was made redundant at the ATM in the best possible way.

A great return for Arthur Reymond.
DDM – MANUEL MASSIP

Beaten in doubles

Arthur Reymond will not be able to do the double in Montauban. Associated with Dan Added (whom he could have faced in the semi-finals this Saturday morning, if Benjamin Pietri had not been there in the quarter-finals) he lost at the end of the day against the Swiss Johan Nikles (who had just losing his semi-final), associated with Damien Wenger. Things did not go that far for the Tricilores who had to concede the match after two tie breaks 7/6 (1), 7/6 (3).

Maxime Chazal, the man in shape

The next two matches, Arthur will go after them with courage, each time in three sets. Yesterday, he had less trouble getting rid of Benjamin Pietri (6/3, 6/3), maintaining his concentration despite a small incident during the second set.

This morning, I’m sure that Arthur will show up pumped up, in front of his friends, a bit like at home. He will have to keep the same state of mind against an opponent who is having an almost perfect week. It’s actually been a long week since Maxime Chazal marked his territory, with two finals (one of which he won), and a semi-final, in his previous tournaments. At Ramier, he therefore confirms his great form.

The No. 5 seed only lost a small set this week, and once again showed his power this Saturday against the Swiss Johan Nikles (6/4, 6/2). A man in good shape facing a ghost, place your bets! See you this Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
