In Hazebrouck, the Espoir association has been helping the poorly housed for 40 years

The association currently accommodates thirteen adults and one child in nine furnished accommodations in Hazebrouck. Knowing that over the last thirty years, the association has made 104 entries. Two sustainable housing units were recently built on rue du Milieu and will be inaugurated in September.

« We always hope that the association will be a springboard for people to reintegrate through work, but that is not what is happening. Our tenants are often single men, homeless or who are often hosted by family but this is not a lasting solution “, explains Daisy Patoz. And to add: “ They are not a priority for social housing because there are not enough small housing units in the rental stock. » Already five people are waiting at the two new accommodations.

Daisy Patoz is the president of the Espoir association.

The association is also in need of younger volunteers: “ We have tremendous help from volunteers on the construction sites but who do not want to join the association on a long-term basis. »
