The Olympic Torch Relay will bring life to the Loire, from north to south.
The first “Eclaireurs” will take it to Roanne at 9 a.m. Then the flame will pass through Charlieu from 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., Montbrison from 11:58 a.m. to 12:40 p.m., Feurs from 1:20 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Saint-Chamond from 3:20 p.m. to 4:13 p.m., Firminy from 4 p.m. 45 at 5:05 p.m. and finally Saint-Etienne from 5:40 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
And it is at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium that the day will end in style. The last torchbearer of the day is Jean-Michel Larqué who will light the Olympic cauldron. Emblematic player of ASSE (1966-1977) and architect of the epic of the Greens, he was appointed by Tony Estanguet to close the Loire festivities.
Depending on the municipality, the route covers from 1 km to more than 8 km. Thus, Charlieu, Feurs and Firminy are classified in the category of “agile convoys”, where the torchbearers will cover a distance of 1,000 meters maximum. Roanne, Montbrison, Saint-Chamond and Saint-Étienne are the municipalities which integrate the “engagement convoy” with longer route lengths.
