Following last night’s storms, the Arc overflows into Maurienne. The “Middle Arc” section between the municipalities of Avrieux and Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne was placed on orange flood alert. “The level of the Arc has been gradually rising since Thursday morning. This Friday at the end of the night, it rose quickly following the storms of the night. The first overflow thresholds were reached around 7 a.m. The level will continue to rise until reaching the peak around midday”, indicates the prefecture.

Flood peak in the middle of the day

“At 8:00 a.m. this Friday, the water height at Villarodin-Bourget was 3.40m, i.e. a flow rate estimated at 215m³/s. The flood peak should be observed on Friday in the middle of the day or early after -noon It should be between 300 and 350 m³/s, i.e. a height on the Villarodin-Bourget scale of between 3m80 and 4m10”. “This seasonally significant flood could lead to overflows which would damage the infrastructure located near the Arc on this section.”

Floods in Tignes

On the side of Tignes, Savoie firefighters intervened shortly before 8 a.m. Friday for river overflows. The premises of the Tignes ski lift company were flooded, around forty employees were sent home for the day. HAS Val Cenis still in Maurienne, the Doron river overflowed. A new episode of rain is expected at the beginning of the afternoon, the department’s services remain on alert.
