The Normandie is indeed affected by the snow episode this Thursday, November 21.
UPDATE AT 12:15 P.M.
Traffic conditions are deteriorating. At 12 p.m., the snow layer reached 15 cm in places in the South Channel. This is the case in Chaulieu. The departmental road 911 between Sourdeval and Orne is difficult to pass.
A heavy goods vehicle is blocked at the exit of Sourdeval.
100 meters further on, snowdrifts appeared with a strong wind.
A situation which trapped the driver of a utility vehicle who abandoned his vehicle stuck on the side of the road.
Be careful if you have to travel on the main network and even more so on the secondary network.
8:30 a.m. In the South Channel, the layer of snow is already close to 5 centimeters in places.
Snow: already a nice layer of snow at the highest point
This is the case at Chaulieu, the highest point of the Channel, where the snowflakes appeared in the early morning. At 7 a.m., we already measured 2 cm, an hour and a half later, the measurement more than doubled.
A few kilometers away, in Sourdeval, traffic conditions are also difficult due to a depth of snow of around 2 cm. City services were working this morning around schools, the medical center and even at pedestrian crossings to secure the roads.
Snow comes with wind
The east south east wind also causes snow drifts in places which can trap motorists. The episode should intensify until the end of the morning, giving way to more scattered flakes during the afternoon.
