Tangram’s first steps, between music and circus

She is a skilled circus artist, particularly on aerial fabric, also a teacher in her field of circus and a body therapist; he is a musician, a trained guitarist and his large technical playing field which goes from recording to musical production is also a great string to his bow.

A couple in real life, born from their post-Covid meeting, Anne-Charlotte Mary and Alexandre Griffiths are well known in Gâtine and in particular in Parthenay: Anne-Charlotte has been crisscrossing the territory for around ten years to carry out circus-related activities, particularly with young children, and Alex, who was the last guitarist of the legendary Dièses, is also a musician in the group ô Bec!, in the lineage of the company Les infinis qui s’emboîtent.

These two found a nest in La Chapelle-Bertrand, in their new stronghold of Fontagnoux, to spread together their respective activities, each carried out for years, and to open them widely within an association that they have called Tangram, from the name of this kind of Chinese puzzle where each piece, even if it is very different, necessarily finds its place.

First internships this summer

From their meeting, a show was born that mixes circus and pop music, Cauliflower which tells… their meeting, precisely. The rest was obvious by mixing, according to the appropriate term on the musician’s side or by grouping, according to the acrobat’s lexicon, their respective skills. So much so that the spectrum of Tangram will be quite broad, in seven variations, a magic number if ever there was one, between circus, music, the link between culture and well-being, support for cultural projects, artistic awakening in rural areas, musical recording and production of shows.

First stone for the self-proclaimed Tangram building “cultural and ethical space”, two first courses linked to the circus are offered this summer by Anne-Charlotte.

From July 15 to 19, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the very first circus course will be aimed at children from 6 years old with à la carte registrations, from the day to the week. Then, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in August, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., an aerial fabric and hammock workshop accessible to all from 16 years old, will be as much a time of discovery à la carte as of maintenance or deepening of the practice, depending on their level.
