Lambians went this Friday, June 21 for the traditional music festival. All over the island, concerts will punctuate this day. On the program: sega, pop, maloya, dancehall, there will be something for everyone. But you will have to make arrangements. Saint-Denis, Saint-Pierre, Saint-Leu, find the programs and traffic plans.

The Dionysian city center will vibrate like every year to the sound of the music festival this Friday, June 21.

50,000 spectators are expected to discover a rich and varied program offered by more than 1,000 professional and amateur musicians.

Music from 6 p.m. and until midnight for all generations. A party “exceptional” promises the mayor of Saint-Denis with headliners DJ Sebb, Lea Churros, MikL, Clara and Lindigo. Thirty-six stages in total will be installed downtown.

Near these stages, boxing rings, basketball courts and even break dancing floors. A music festival associated with sport for this new edition, a nod to just over a month before the Paris Olympics.

Like every year, you will have to plan ahead to be able to fully enjoy the concerts in Saint-Denis. Many roads will be closed to traffic and parking.

From 6 a.m. this Friday, traffic will be prohibited on rue de Nice (portion between rue Lucien Gasparin and avenue de la Victoire) and rue Jean Chatel (portion between rue Labourdonnais and rue Rontaunay) .

From midday, it will also be impossible to travel on Avenue de la Victoire (portion between Rue Labourdonnais and Rue Gabriel Macé).

To facilitate traffic flow, diversions (from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and shuttles from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. will be put in place. Parking will be free in the “République”, “Petit Marché” and “Sainte-Anne” car parks. They will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight. The “Rieuls and “Grand Marché” car parks will be accessible all day on June 21.

The seafront of the southern capital will also be entirely dedicated to music. This Friday, June 21, from 5 p.m., the sea breezes will harmonize with the sounds of sacred drums, roulèr and kayamb. More than 900 artists will perform on ten stages along the Saint-Pierre seafront.

From 6 p.m., the “crowd choir” choir led by Meddy Gerville will take place followed by the Kervéli group and the favorite of the 20Désamb Prize, Simaronn’.

Under the casuarina trees, at the auditorium via the rondavel, there will be no shortage of sites to celebrate the diversity of music in Saint-Leu.

From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., spectators will be able to dance to the roulèr and kayamb of the group “Lo Ker Maloya”, to the guitar chords of Gilbert Pounia and his group Ziskakan. Without forgetting the percussion of the Brazilian Batucada from Afrik-a-Bahia.

A music festival which will cause disruptions on the road network. From 7 a.m. this Friday, traffic will be prohibited on the Place du Monument aux Morts as well as on Rue de la Compagnie des Indes. Parking will also be prohibited there, from Thursday June 20.
