MISCELLANEOUS FACTS. A major face-to-face involving three vehicles and a 53-foot heavy goods vehicle occurred this morning, at 7:25 a.m., on Route 122, in Saint-Edmond-de-Grantham. One person lost their life.
The accident occurred more precisely in front of 1369, route 122. The force of the impact, a car ended up in the ditch and then was set on fire. Another vehicle was subsequently struck due to the truck losing control. The collision also caused debris to be scattered approximately 200 meters.
According to initial information provided by the Sûreté du Québec, four people were injured and another unfortunately died in the burned car.
Rescue teams were quickly deployed to the scene.
The firefighters of Saint-Germain-de-Grantham were the first to intervene, joined in mutual aid by those of Saint-Guillaume to manage the extinction of the fires. However, before being able to water, an emergency load shedding was requested from Hydro-Québec, because the heavy truck damaged a telephone pole.
Route 122 remains closed to traffic (12:45 p.m.), between Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and Béliveau roads. A detour is to be expected.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of the accident. All hypotheses are studied, including the voluntary gesture.
The identity of the victim has not been released by authorities.
