It’s a particularly hot day on the Senegalese roads. This Sunday, the eve of the Tabaski festival, no less than five accidents were recorded and four deaths deplored.
In the Bignona department, in the south of the country, three people died in two road accidents. For the first, it is a couple who came from Dakar to cross the Tabaski in Ziguinchor. According to information, their vehicle collided with a bus which wanted to avoid an obstacle on the national road (RN5). They died instantly.
A similar accident occurred in the town of Bignona. This time it involved a “motorcycle-Jakarta” and a truck. And it was the motorcyclist who died in the collision.
Around 12 p.m., a bus overturned near Diopcounda, a village located in the commune of Oudoucar, 45 km east of the commune of Sédhiou. Several minor injuries were reported. The bus was part of the caravan of students from Medina Yéro Foula from the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (Ucad) who were traveling to their locality for the needs of Tabaski. Alerted, the gendarmerie and firefighters traveled to the scene to assist the victims and determine the circumstances of the accident. The injured were evacuated to health structures in the Sedhiou region.
At the same time, a motorcyclist died on the western corniche of Dakar, after an accident near the Mosque of the Divinity. The circumstances of this accident have not yet been determined, but the lifeless body was transported by firefighters.
