Seine-et-Marne: what is this funny bench, installed in the courtyard of a school?

At the request of primary school students, the municipality of Vimpelles (Seine et Marne) installed a friendship bench In the school yard.

Also called “ friends bench ” Or ” anti-isolation bench “, this device aims tohelping lonely children to make friends and play with others. An idea from the students:

They came to me one morning asking if it was possible to have this bench in their school, because they are very sensitive to other children who sometimes feel sad.

“If a friend sits there, I’ll go see him”

Coming straight from UNITED STATES, the friendship benches allow students who need to talk or play with other children to sit there. In doing so, they send a message to teachers and other children.

I will see if one of my friends comes to sit there and in this case, I will go see him to chat with him and make him laugh.

To make the concept as cheerful and visible as possible, the municipality chose to paint the bench in rainbow colors. “This friendship bench can also participate in actions taken against bullying and help maintain a positive bond between children,” concludes Nadine Delattre.
