As the summer holidays approach, the Drôme prefecture, the Vigie route + Sûre association, and Vinci autoroutes, are organizing, this Thursday, June 13 in Bourg-lès-Valence, a “yellow card” operation, an alternative to the sanctions for minor traffic offenses: speeding below 20 km/h, telephones while driving, forgetting to turn signals, etc. Gendarmes from the Drôme departmental road safety squadron, national police officers and municipal police officers from Bourg-lès-Valence are mobilized for controls.

During this operation to raise awareness of the dangers of the road, with visits to different workshops, at least three drivers were unable to choose the alternative option to the sanction. The driver of a Mercedes class A, was in fact controlled by the gendarmes of the motorized brigade of Romans-sur-Isère at 196 km/h (retained speed 186 km/h) in Pont-de-l’Isère, on the A7 motorway, in the North/South direction. This 28-year-old from Lyon immediately had his driving license revoked and his car was impounded.

Two other Lyonnais were surprised, in the morning, and still in Pont-de-l’Isère on the A7, at 181 km/h instead of 130, and at 170 km/h instead of 110 for this young driver . The two licenses were also withdrawn by the gendarmes of the Valence motorway platoon.

Another driver who was unable, due to lack of time, to participate in the “yellow card” operation workshops which last around thirty minutes: a forty-year-old from the Lyon region checked by the gendarmes at 157 km/h on the A7 . The reason: he was summoned before an assize court. So he got back on the road after losing a point on his license.
