After 2016 and 2020, Fabrice Amedeo is preparing to compete in his third Vendée Globe, a solo non-stop and unassisted round-the-world sailing trip. The start will be given on Sunday November 10, from Sables-d'Olonne. His father Jacques will attend, accompanied by his two other children. In the meantime, it is from his home, in Segré, that he agreed to talk about this very singular ordeal and the view he has on his sailor son.

Your son Fabrice will set off on Sunday for his third Vendée Globe. What do you feel?

We are happy for him because he experienced two traumas in quick succession, with the fire in his boat on the Route du Rhum (November 14, 2022) and the death of Blandine, my wife, a few weeks later. There was great cohesion between Fabrice and his mother. There was a moment when he wasn't very well but he doesn't dwell on his feelings, he didn't tell me. At that time, people could get depressed but he knew how to keep his project idea.

And he bought a boat…
