Senegal faces Mauritania this Sunday June 9 in Nouakchott. At the Cheikha Ould Boïdiya stadium (4:00 p.m. GMT), for the 4th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
At a press conference before the match, national coach Aliou Cissé spoke about the match against the Mourabitounes.

“It’s true that the injury to Sadio and Nicolas Jackson which has just been added since yesterday. It’s true that it’s a complicated situation but we had to say it, the group is ready. We called 26 players. It’s up to the players who are there to show what they are capable of to compensate for the absence of our players. Despite the absences, we do not lack ambition and we will have to achieve the best possible result here. It’s a mini-championship and nothing has been done yet. It’s been three days, there are still seven days left. So you have to go game by game. Congo (DRC) is over and today it’s Mauritania,” declared Aliou Cissé at a press conference the day before the match.

He adds: “We have always prepared our meetings, we have never neglected anyone, I repeat it and I repeat it, last Thursday, I made my 100 selections and I was discussing it with my assistants. From the match against Burundi to the match against the DRC, there were no moments of calm. We prepared them with great tranquility, we prepared them with great serenity, we prepared them with the players, we prepared them with great solidarity and that is what we will do tomorrow. »

The coach continued: “We are not neglecting Mauritania, as I mentioned, whether it is the supposed small teams. We have always been serious, we have always acted adequately. The so-called great ones, this is also the case.”

“We have always been there, my team has no longer disappointed me with their behavior, with their attitudes in the 10 years I have had them. We will continue our work and above all we will carefully prepare for tomorrow’s match. Today is training and tomorrow is the match,” concluded the “Lions” technician.
