In order to allow SNCF Réseau to carry out major signaling modernization work, the Paris-Marseille high-speed line will close for 4 days. 30% of the TGVs usually running on this line will be canceled, the others will be able to run on the “classic” Paris-Lyon-Marseille line which passes through the “Valence ville” station.
The consequences in Drôme
Valence TGV station will not be served by TGVs. Consequently, users wishing to travel by train on the Paris-Lyon-Marseille axis during this exceptional period will have to take their train at Valence Ville. Trains passing through Grenoble (notably the Annecy-Valence line) will run normally to Valence TGV.
The timetables of TER trains circulating throughout the Drôme department should be unchanged despite the transfer of a large part of the high-speed line TGVs to their tracks. It is therefore advisable to obtain information on the regularly updated SNCF website, before going to the station: SNCF – Traffic and network information Significant increase in travel times
For those who choose to take the TGV traveling on the “classic” line, you will need to be patient and anticipate travel times multiplied by 2 on average. For example, for a direct from Valence city to Paris, it will take 5 hours and 30 minutes of travel time
Certain services between the South-East and other regions will not be provided
The connection between the South-East and Pays-de-la-Loire, Brittany, Normandy, Center Val-de-Loire and Hauts-de-France will not be maintained.
The service between Paris and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur will also be disrupted: the TGVs will not go beyond Marseille and Toulon, thus not allowing TGV service from the Arcs Draguignan stations to Nice.
The service between Paris and Occitanie will be provided as far as Montpellier Saint-Roch. However, TGVs will not be able to go beyond this station. Thus the stations located after Montpellier Saint-Roch up to Toulouse and up to Perpignan will not be served by TGV.
The Grand Est will remain served with an extension of travel times, such as for Lyon-Metz
