Since the ubiquity of electronic devices, digital evidence has played an important role in criminal cases. Faced with this reality, the Friborg justice system is strengthening its digitalization by equipping itself with the Proofbox infrastructure. “This technological solution is a first in Switzerland and simplifies the transmission and consultation of digital evidence for criminal chain personnel and lawyers, while ensuring data security,” explains the Directorate of Security, Justice and Security. of sport (DSJS) in a press release. Other cantons would be interested in adopting it.

The State of Friborg thus intends to accelerate the administrative processing of legal procedures “and guarantee informed and fair decisions”. The tool also helps strengthen the protection of sensitive data and the confidentiality of parties involved in criminal cases.

This new stage marks “a significant turning point for Friborg justice” and is part of the e-Justice program. The objective of the latter is to simplify intra- and intercantonal cooperation by replacing physical judicial files with electronic files.
