Be careful if you have some in your freezer: do not consume it and do not delay in getting closer to the point of sale. This is the recommendation issued by the Rappel Conso site, which relays this Monday an alert launched by Aldi concerning frozen tropical shrimp, contaminated with the so-called “flesh-eating” Vibrio vulnificus bacteria, sold in recent weeks.

Packaged whole raw in 400 g bags, these are marketed by the supermarket chain under the Golden Seafood brand and have been the subject of a recall since Monday June 24.

Information to know

According to Rappel Conso, the batch concerned was marketed on March 18 and June 5 and bears the number VN 089 V 101NTSF17 ALDIFR 23057B. The corresponding product code is 26048741 and the use-by date is October 22, 2025.

According to the sheet issued by Rappel Conso, the consumption of the products mentioned above may give rise to “mild gastrointestinal disorders in healthy individuals, but also severe non-intestinal disorders (generalized infection/sepsis) in susceptible individuals or those with pre-existing chronic conditions.”

“Skin infections are likely to occur from pre-existing injuries when handling products,” it is also specified.

Potentially fatal therefore, the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria spreads in warm, salty waters and contaminates seafood. It can cause tissue necrosis in certain patients, hence its nickname “flesh eater”.

The recall procedure ends on August 21, 2024. The affected batches are entitled to a refund. If you have any questions, you can contact this number: 09.77.40.40.44.
