The finals of the French Handball Championships start this June 5 at the Palais Omnisport Georges Théolade

Kick-off of the finals of the French Handball Championships. The four evenings will take place at the Progt with women’s and men’s teams from the West Indies and France. This will be a first on Guyanese territory. This year, only one club represents Guyana: Geldar de Kourou for both women and men.

The ladies and gentlemen of Geldar meet side by side in the gymnasium of Ho Ten You college in Kourou. While all the other teams in the region are on vacation, the Kourouciens are preparing the finals of the French championships which will be played for the 1time time in Guyana. For the women, fate reserved for them the Arsenal du Robert, French champion of National 2 a year after having removed that of National 1. It is a real reference.
According to Nathan Aristil, the coach of ASC Le Geldar de Kourou Féminine “These are duels that are always exciting, exciting to play. They have their track record, we have ours and on the field there are 7 players against 7 players. We are going to play our card to the fullest.”.

The Kourouciennes defied the odds to regain a title they had held since 2008. The battle was tough and they will have to do without at least 3 injured starters. Among the boys, for the moment everything seems to be going well for a group still in self-management, supervised by Benjamin Zulémaro player coach. They retained the championship title and will have to face Cherbourg. “We will play a third national team, undefeated. We will play on our cohesion, our strength is what we will accentuate…”

This event relocated for the 1time time in Guyana remains a real challenge for the club.

Adelson Magloire, Handball section manager ASC Le Geldar de Kourou: “We have the chance to represent Guyana in both categories, we will do our best. We are preparing to be at the level and show that if we had these two titles it is because we had the level.”

Nathan Aristil, ASC Coach Le Geldar de Kourou Féminine : “We are waiting for the mass mobilization of the people to encourage us… it is Guyanese handball that will be represented”

The slogan is launched: mobilization around a handball in search of recognition in the face of high-level adversity.
Starting this Wednesday, let’s all wear blue!
