The countdown has begun. We are officially 25 days away from the grand launch of the Paris 2024 Games on the Seine. For several weeks, traffic has been increasingly complicated in the capital. Several roads in the City of Light are closed to traffic to allow the construction of various competition and celebration sites. For several days, motorists in the Paris region have been forced to review their routes.

In this context, Le Parisien offers you a daily update on traffic in the streets of Paris, using applications that share the state of road traffic in real time across the region, such as the Google Traffic tool or the Sytadin platform.

Since May 17, several key points in the capital, such as the Alexandre III Bridge and Avenue Gallieni, have been closed to traffic. As for the Trocadéro-Champ de Mars area, Avenue des Nations Unies between Rue Le Nôtre and Place de Varsovie and between Place de Varsovie and Avenue Albert de Mun is no longer accessible to motor vehicles or pedestrians.

The Place de la Concorde is also completely closed to traffic, and in the Invalides area, it is now impossible to use the Bleuets de France roundabout. In total, Olympic Games or not, more than fifty streets are closed to traffic in the capital.

This Monday morning, as usual, the east of the Paris ring road as well as the south up to the Porte de Saint-Cloud is congested with traffic junctions concentrated mainly at the Porte de Bercy, the section between the Porte d’Orléans and the Porte d’Italie. As usual, it remains tricky to enter Paris through the Porte de Bagnolet and the Porte de la Chapelle.

The quays of Paris-Centre are saturated

Inside the capital, the left bank is once again experiencing slowdowns around Place d’Italie as well as around Place Denfert-Rochereau and on the quays along the Île de la Cité (Quai de la Tournelle, Quai de Montebello and Quai des Augustins). On the other side of the Seine, the same situation applies to the quays of the Hôtel de Ville.

A little further west, the area of Place du Châtelet and Rue de Rivoli is also plagued by traffic jams. A little further north of the capital, Boulevard Saint-Martin is also very congested from Place de la République to the outskirts of the Grands Boulevards station. This morning again, the area of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin is saturated, as is Quai de Bercy. The Bir-Hakeim bridge is also to be avoided.

Concerning traffic jams in the region, the website of the Île-de-France Roads Directorate (Dirif) Sytadin reported this Monday at 8:30 a.m. 284 km of traffic jams, which is a “usual” situation in the Paris region.
