Thirty-seven. This is the number of bridges that exist in Paris. Did you know that it is the 15th arrondissement which has the largest number of terraces ? Or that only 30% of Parisians were born in the capital? Locate yourself the oldest house of Paris (that of the alchemist Nicolas Flamel), or its smallest street?

With “Paris!” », the City immerses you in a resolutely optimistic vision of the capital. That of cinema with film clips (as Inception by Christopher Nolan) or from the beginning of the 20th century, when the Seine was swimmable…

A wealth of information

Visually successful and full of information of all kinds, the City’s exhibition has the false air ofseduction operation and should hit the mark among lovers of Paris, and even among its detractors.

We enter the town hall through the hidden entrance at 5, rue Lobau, then we discover a room with subdued lighting, where large portraits of Parisians taken by theartist Marguerite Bornhauser descend from the architecturally delightful ceiling.

Immediately, a relatively tough interactive test assesses your knowledge of the City of Lights. While a small game book is distributed to the youngest. An audio guide is also available.

The aisles are full of images and intelligent maps and relevant. In subtext, it is obviously a politicized exhibition, which flatters the record of the mayor (PS), Anne Hidalgo.

Immersive journey

If the exposure passes relatively quickly (allow a good hour), its journey is rich. In particular, we cross a “jungle” of a few meters, which illustrates the advantages of an island of freshness and leads to… a “time capsule”.

The principle ? We write a short note or record an audio – with a microphone – to the future generations. Date of capsule opening? May 25, 2042. Need a break before it’s over? Fall into a deckchair and be lulled by a story about the Seine.

A very special place is reserved for the river.

Tour towards youth, the exhibition also has a space occupied by the life-size reconstruction of a “school street”. Little bonus: a machine can bring your drawing to life!
