For nearly fifteen years, Corrèze delegated the filling and sending of professions of faith to private companies. But for the European elections on June 9, the prefecture has mobilized more than 200 volunteers, who have three days to complete this work and send it to some 185,000 voters in the department.

It is officially a hangar of the Tulle gendarmerie school, but currently, it looks like a beehive!
More than 200 volunteers are buzzing there together to, in three days with their watches in hand, put in envelopes the professions of faith of the candidates for the European elections, intended for some 185,000 voters in the Corrèze department.

Among the little hands, a majority of civil servants, but also their families, including children who are not of voting age. A radical change, compared to the last fifteen years.

For almost fifteen years, we had stopped doing envelope stuffing, what we call internalized by agents, we went through private operators. And then, you remember, in the departmental elections, there were some difficulties in France, so we are part of these prefectures, the majority in fact, which have reinternalized, and therefore relearned, this job of putting envelopes which is very particular, which requires a lot of experience” explain Etienne Desplanques, prefect of Corrèze.

In fact, this work requires, above all, involvement, pace and, even more, application.

You have to be concentrated to make sure you don’t take two, and you have to be diligent because the paper will definitely slip a little!

Small “facilitation”: if there are officially 38 lists in the running, only 27 documents are to be sent, some candidates not having the means to print their profession of faith.
Three months of work were necessary beforehand to organize everything.
Town halls and voters will receive everything, without fail, between Monday June 3 and Thursday June 6.
