After the two regional natural parks (PNR) of Armorique and the Gulf of Morbihan, a third has officially been created in , that of the Rance-Côte d’Émeraude valley. All that was missing was the decree from Prime Minister Michel Barnier. The latter was published in Official JournalSaturday October 19, 2024.

66 municipalities are classified in the natural park, partially for Saint-Malo and Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets:

A project dating from 2008

Dating from 2008, the initial regional natural park project for the Rance-Côte d’Émeraude valley was to bring together 74 municipalities, forming a triangle between Cap Fréhel to the west, Cancale to the east and the village of Guitté south. With the Rance estuary as its backbone.

Ultimately, 66 municipalities joined it, along with the Region, the two departments, the agglomerations of Dinan and Saint-Malo, as well as the community of communes on the Emerald Coast (Dinard). With some notable absences: Cancale, Saint-Coulomb, Saint-Suliac, Fréhel and even Plévenon.

Without waiting for the official decree, a party celebrated the creation of this Regional Natural Park, on October 5 and 6, 2024, at Léhon Abbey, in Dinan. One way, then, “to reaffirm the commitment of a territory”, who has just been rewarded after sixteen years of work.
