“What is really interesting is to share this passion.” Around thirty breeders or enthusiasts gathered this Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20 at Daniel Voisard’s home. The latter organized a herding dog competition at the Oueilles farm in Moutier-d’Ahun in Creuse. This is not not a first for this breeder who has already participated 18 times in the French championshipbut also at the world championship: “Already, I have had a passion for sheep for around thirty years, then I had a passion for dogs with a German shepherd. It allowed me to travel just about everywhere. What I find fascinating is above all being able to control oneself, against stress and also to train the dog gently..”

Dogs trained by finger and eye completed an obstacle course under the orders and instructions of their breeders. The objective was to complete the tests as quickly as possible and with as few mistakes as possible. In order to monitor the different passages, Philippe Heintz, the competition judge, accompanied each participant: “These are obstacles which represent a little bit of what we can encounter on a farm. There is a luck factor that is fundamental in herding dog competitions. We play with living things and not all sheep function in the same way.”
