Football: Inter Milan wins clash against Roma

Yann Sommer’s Inter Milan painfully snatched the three points of victory (1-0) on the field of AS Rome on Sunday during the 8th day of the Italian Championship.

Like the other big names in Serie A this weekend, the reigning champion suffered but provided the essentials thanks to his captain Lautaro Martinez, author of the only goal of the match in the 60th minute.

The injury exit of their playing master Hakan Calhanoglu in the 12th minute disrupted the Nerazzurri for a long time, jostled by a determined Roma, but too messy.

Thanks to this third consecutive victory in the league, Inter remains 2nd (17 pts) two lengths behind leader Naples (19 pts) who, earlier in the day on Sunday, barely got the better of Empoli (1-0) .

Juventus Turin, victorious over Lazio (1-0) on Saturday, is 3rd (16 pts) three points behind Naples, just ahead of AC Milan (14 pts) who won by the same score against Udinese.

Roma, beaten for the first time in the league since Ivan Juric took over from Daniele De Rossi, fell to 10th place (10 pts).

Its fans are very upset against their American owners. The ultras of the Curva Sud, “tired and disgusted by the leaders” as they wrote on a banner, boycotted the first fifteen minutes of the match and increased the chants hostile to Friedkin.

On other grounds, Lecce was slapped by Fiorentina (0-6), Atalanta won in Venice (0-2) and Cgaliari defeated Torino 3-2.
