The Cingal-Suisse community council met Thursday September 26, 2024 in Thury-Harcourt (). Among the items on the agenda, elected officials returned to the wind project planned in the town of Bellengreville, south of . The elected officials issued an unfavorable opinion. Why does this project raise so many reservations in the region?

Several points raised

The project to install three wind turbines and two delivery stations in the town of Bellengreville, although in line with the objectives ecological transition, raises reservations from community elected officials.

The reasons for an unfavorable opinion, although focused on governance considerations rather than a rejection of wind energy per se, raise several important points.

Among them, consultation with elected officials and communities. “We want a more collaborative approach, based on dialogue with local authorities,” emphasizes Jacky Lehugueur.

The demand for transparency through a one-stop shop “is also essential to guarantee constructive exchanges”.

“This is not opposition to the project”

It is important to emphasize that this unfavorable opinion does not mean that elected officials are opposed to wind energy as an energy solution.

On the contrary, they recall that this decision “mainly concerns the way in which the project was developed and presented, without prejudging a principled opposition to wind energy.”
