Avian flu, or highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), is once again worrying specialists. The risk level was lowered in spring 2024 to “negligible”. It was raised on October 15, 2024 to “moderate”. Concretely, this means that prevention and biosecurity measures for poultry farms are reinforced throughout .

Detections of cases of avian flu are increasing in Europe in wild and farmed birds. It is precisely these cases in wild birds, particularly those using migration corridors, that are worrying. The risk of introducing the virus into France from migratory wildlife is real.

This is what motivated the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry. The Seine estuary sector, in in particular, is one of the zones at particular risk (ZRP).
