“I was rather critical”, Deschamps reveals the reasons for his little anger during the break

At halftime of the Nations League match against Israel, ultimately won 4-1 this Thursday evening, Didier Deschamps had some criticisms to make to his players.

Didier Deschamps was visibly somewhat annoyed at the break. While his players returned to the locker room leading 2-1 this Thursday in the Nations League against Israel (4-1 in the end), the coach did not like everything he saw on the Budapest pitch .

The French coach particularly criticized certain attitudes towards the Israeli equalizer, in the 24th minute. “The speech at the break? There is the loss of ball which leads to the equalizer. I was rather critical at half-time. We had losses of ball which we should not have. The opponent feeds on that in these matches,” said Deschamps on TF1. “Sometimes, through a little excess of confidence or ease, there are passes or technical gestures… We had losses of balls which we should not have in the first half. We had to be a little more diligent.”

“We are in a bit of a transition period”

“Everything is not perfect. But everything is not to be thrown away”, then assured the coach about the recent performances of the Blues. “We are in a bit of a transition period, with players who have qualities and who require confirmation. This League of Nations must serve us for that. We failed against Italy (3-1 defeat, editor’s note), ok, but we had a very good match against Belgium (2-0 victory).”

After three days, the French team (6 pts) is second in its Nations League group, one point behind Italy. The Blues now have a meeting with Belgium on Monday in Brussels (8:45 p.m.).
