Many users of Microsoft’s Outlook email service experienced slowdowns for several hours Thursday morning.

The Downdetector website reported several dozen reports in Canada from around 7:30 a.m. and continued throughout the morning.

The Microsoft 365 technical support team indicated on their X account that there was an issue in Europe, which was causing slowdowns, emails not being received, and excessive memory usage by the application. live from their computer.

Contacted by the QMI Agency, Microsoft confirmed that it was investigating a problem “which affects a limited number of users”.

Around 11 a.m., Microsoft’s technical support team identified a problem with Outlook’s memory management that could be causing the problems.

A fix was finally applied around 2 p.m., putting an end to the slowdowns.
