As part of preparations for the 2030 World Cup, the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment announced the upcoming start of a new highway linking Rabat to Casablanca.

This new highway, 60 kilometers long, whose construction should be completed in 2028, will be built parallel to the existing highway.

Starting from the Rabat bypass at the Tamesna interchange, it will join the southern ring road from Casablanca to Tit Mellil. Its strategic route passes near Benslimane airport and the future large Casablanca stadium, which will play a key role in the organization of the 2030 World Cup. It will pass near Benslimane airport as well as the future Grand Casablanca stadium, currently under construction.

The project provides for the construction of several structures to cross seven wadis, notably Cherrat, Nfifikh and El Maleh. The highway will consist of three lanes, divided into six distinct sections. The first will connect the Casablanca ring road to Wadi El Maleh, the second will go to Wadi Nfifikh, and so on until national road no. 4022.

This large-scale project on the sidelines of the 2030 World Cup organized jointly by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, represents an investment of 5 billion dirhams. In addition to its logistical advantages, this new highway should stimulate economic development in the region. By effectively connecting urban centers and business areas, it will facilitate trade and attract new investments, while relieving congestion on current saturated roads.
