The Earth Uprisings say no to the LGV in Gironde, the prefecture fears strong tensions

A mobilization which worries the prefecture which has just issued two preventive decrees. The first temporarily prohibits, from October 7 to 14, the carrying and transport of weapons (or objects that could constitute a weapon) without legitimate reason in 30 municipalities in South Gironde. The second prohibits, still from October 7 to 14, the purchase, sale, transfer, use, wearing and transport of fireworks in these same 30 municipalities.

Concerts and training

The Gironde prefecture relies on the militant past of the Earth Uprisings to justify these decrees. “The Earth Uprising collective is characterized by the promotion of a new type of violent collective action, directly inspired by the ultra-left involving the use of violence against the police, as well as by the legitimization of the practice of acts of damage, sabotage or intrusion through the concept of “disarmament” which in reality aims to destroy the property concerned.” To support its argument, the prefecture lists, in its order, facts that occurred in Sainte-Soline or on the A69 construction site.

She also estimates that the number of demonstrators expected in Gironde “is between 3,000 and 5,000 people, including 10% of individuals considered very violent. These radical members are likely to bring weapons ahead of the demonstration and at least 72 hours before to fight with the police.
