According to the judicial source, “Maxime D. was thus seen punching an individual from behind who fell to the ground, lifeless. He insulted the victim as a ‘dirty dog’. Clément B. kicked a man in the face sitting on the ground, also falling unconscious“. “Various witnesses indicated that they thought the attack was racist, because the victims were of foreign origin, or spoke Arabic“added the source.

“The identification of the victims was not possible“no more than”determining their incapacity for work“, which could reduce the penalty incurred for the police officers in the event of conviction. According to the same source, with another police officer, Matthieu D., Maxime D. must also be tried on October 29 for suspicion of willful violence aggravated crimes committed three times on July 25, in the 5th and 6th arrondissement police station, on a person in custody, which caused him to fracture his forearm.

Videos of the facts revealed

Maxime D. had filed a complaint against the person in custody denouncing violence against him, which resulted in him also being judged for slanderous denunciation. Clément B., already cited in the pub’s file and who was station manager on the evening of July 25, must also be tried on October 29 for this second case for slanderous denunciation and failure to assist a person in danger. Libération revealed videos of these events in September.

Another police officer pleaded guilty to slanderous denunciation on September 20 and has already been sentenced to six months in prison, while the prosecution has yet to rule on the cases of other police officers present. On October 29, Maxime D. will also be tried for a third case: at the end of June 2022, he is suspected of having sprayed tear gas five times in the face of a woman he had to accompany after a refusal to take a complaint.

The judicial control of Maxime D. and Matthieu D. prohibits them from exercising any public function and from coming into contact with their colleagues, and with Clément B., they are prohibited from carrying a weapon. All three have a duty of care.
