On the night of Thursday September 26, 2024, Alexandre Acenso’s house went up in smoke in Marcheprime (). If he could save her two children and his wife from the fire, he worries about the future.

According to the expert, the fire started by sparks from a cable connected to the meter and located outside the wall of the children’s room. One is 7 years old, the other 11 years old. Both are disabled, explains their father.

Awakened by his children

Close to the start of the fire, these are the children who first noticed that something was wrong. “They came into the room and woke me up,” explains the father. “There was a lot of smoke. »

Without a second thought, he takes his two children out of the house. Without his glasses or even his clothes, he explains a few days later. Because this is what matters most to Alexandre Acenso: “My children, This is my life.” He then returns to the house to help his wife “and too bad for the smoke”.

During the night, the on-call representative Christophe Lorriot helps the family reach friends who have offered to welcome them. But the next day, the realization comes: the single-storey house is inhabitable, devoured by flames. “I have lived in the town for 41 years, it was my father’s house,” breathes Alexandre Acenso, with palpable emotion.

“Where did he sleep outside?” »

A few days later, the father still can’t sleep. “As soon as I close my eyes, I see the flames”, he explains. But it’s not just the past, his family’s future is also a source of anxiety. “After October 15, their parents arrive and they can no longer welcome us. What do we do? Are we going to sleep outside? »

The Monday following the fire, the father had an appointment with the local social worker who immediately contacted the insurance company. “Mr. Acenso has denied all the rehousing solutions proposed by its insurance to date,” explains the municipality, which claims to be “following the matter closely. » The municipality’s emergency housing is already occupied.

Alexandre Acenso describes solutions such as campsites, hotels… for a limited period. A solution is emerging for the end of November, but not before. He is ready to move heaven and earth to find a lasting solution. “I want a real roof on the heads of my children,” says the father. He goes to the CCAS every day, asking for another housing offer.

In the meantime, he would like to emphasize the solidarity of the residents of the town. “I rang the neighbors in the night, they responded immediately, sheltered the children and made them hot chocolate. » A friend has launched a call for clothing donations and wants to start a leetchi fundraiser. In a few days, the influx of children’s clothing filled a CCAS room. “It’s a beautiful proof of solidarity des Marcheprimais and the children’s school”, underlines the town hall.
