The Department of Haute-Garonne has decided to stop financing the Zap31 system which allows you to benefit from toll reductions.
It's almost the end of the Zap31 device. The latter, which is part of the discounted subscriptions for individuals offered by Vinci Autoroutes, allows residents of Haute-Garonne to benefit from 12 to 80% reduction on their home-work journeys. And this, by taking out a subscription at €1.50 per month. The Departmental Council has participated financially in this for 25 years. Participation which will end in 2025.
An announcement made by the president of the community, Sébastien Vincini, in a letter recently sent to users of the system. “I inform you thatfrom 1is January 2025like many other departments in France, the Departmental Council will no longer finance a discount on the Zap31 subscription”, declares the president of the community who indicates to users that “Vinci Autoroutes will come back to them soon in order to present the offers most appropriate to their situation.
Why is Haute-Garonne putting an end to Zap31?
If the Department made this decision, it is for several reasons. “After an in-depth evaluation of this system, it appears today that it does not in no way guarantees that it benefits those who need it mostnor that it only finances home-work travel. On the other hand, working practices have evolved towards less travel and many subscribers do not benefit from the reduction because they do not reach the required number of trips each month,” notes Sébastien Vincini.
The latter underlines, moreover, that the Department “supports daily journeys by promoting alternative solutions to the individual car or aimed at means of collective transport”, before citing the development of carpooling areas, the development of express networks bicycle and public transport like the 3e metro line or the metropolitan RER. “These solutions will promote home-work travel more compatible with environmental issues of today,” believes the elected official.
