He tries to abandon his son in the forest, the child clings to the car and is seriously injured

A 44-year-old father, living in Frouard, north of (Meurthe-et-), is suspected of mistreating his 6-year-old son after describing himself as a “accident”
the child's serious injuries. The events took place on Thursday, October 31, when the father presented himself to the emergency room of Nancy hospital with his seriously injured son, reports
The Republican East. The child suffered from head trauma, wounds to his face and hands, and was in a state of shock.

The nursing staff, alerted by the seriousness of the injuries and by the father's account which was not considered credible, reported the situation to the police. When questioned, the child revealed to investigators that a punishment inflicted by his father was the cause of his injuries, recounting an attempt to abandon him in the forest for the night. The events allegedly occurred after the child showed indiscipline in a leisure center during the day. The father would have taken his son to a wood near Liverdun (Meurthe-et-Moselle). After getting out of the car, the child allegedly tried to grab onto the door handle when the father accelerated to get away. Dragged for several dozen meters, the little boy was seriously injured before the father finally stopped and took him, injured, to the hospital.

When questioned by police, the father maintained that his son's injuries were the result of “accident” involving a car breakdown. According to his statements, he asked the child to get out of the vehicle to help him maneuver, at which point he was injured in circumstances that the father was unable to clarify. These explanations were considered unconvincing by the police.

He will be tried next March

At the end of his police custody, the father was presented to the public prosecutor. The Nancy prosecutor, François Capin-Dulhoste, notified him of his appearance in court on March 17 for “intentional violence by an ascendant against a minor under 15 years old with ITT of more than 8 days”. While awaiting his trial, the man was released under judicial supervision, with a ban on having contact with his son or going to his home.
