The dramatic accident occurred early, around 6:30 a.m., Wednesday October 2 in the premises of the Francepal company, a manufacturer of wooden pallets, in Durtal, in the northeast of Maine-et-Loire. A 41-year-old worker, resident of La Chapelle-d’Aligné (Sarthe), was reportedly caught while he was under a hydraulic press.

Alerted, the emergency services took care of the victim while he was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The forty-year-old was resuscitated several times and transported to the emergency room of Angers University Hospital in critical condition. Placed in an artificial coma, he unfortunately did not survive his injuries. He died during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of this work accident. In the company, a psychological unit has been set up to support shocked staff. The victim lived as a couple in La Chapelle-d’Aligné. He was the father of a three-year-old boy.
