Gino Chouinard returned to the set of Salut Bonjour this week, not to host the show, but as a guest. On the occasion of the launch of his first book, 3800 matins, written in collaboration with Nicolas Forget, Gino was the guest of Ève-Marie on October 1, 2024.

For the first time, Gino opens up about his personal life
Throughout his career, Gino was keen to protect those close to him by remaining discreet about his personal life. In 3800 mornings, he lifts the veil on subjects that affected him and his family during the 21 years he spent at Salut Bonjour.
1. Gino didn’t pass all his interviews
By devoting a chapter to interviews he considers less successful, Gino gives his readers a completely different perspective on his career. Despite appearances, this one is not made up entirely of successes. With a lot of self-deprecation, Gino reminds us that these more negative aspects are also important, they always teach us a lesson.
2. Gino reflects on his infertility journey
Before adopting their 2 children, Gino and his partner Isabelle embarked on a medical fertility journey. Throughout the pages, Gino looks back on the various medical appointments and the discomfort he may have felt when feeling recognized by other patients in a fertility clinic.
3. Gino always wanted to adopt
Gino confided to Ève-Marie during his appearance on the set on October 1 that he and his partner always wanted to adopt children, which ultimately made the couple’s infertility a less important issue for them.
4. Gino wasn’t happy with the news of his departure
Very demanding of himself, the man who was at the helm of Salut Bonjour for so many years confides that he was not satisfied with the way in which he announced his departure.
In 2 minutes 51 seconds, I said everything. Everything happened too quickly. I could have repeated this speech a hundred times and I would never have been satisfied with the words chosen. That’s how I am: unsatisfyable.
5. Gino received more than 10,000 messages when he announced his departure
After the shockwave of the announcement of his departure, Gino received numerous messages of support and gratitude from the public of Salut Bonjour, more than 10,000, or 45 hours of reading. In the pages of his book, he selected a few of them, of which here is an extract:
Gino! I have been speechless since yesterday! I cried like a baby in my kitchen when I heard this heartbreaking news! My daughters didn’t understand why I was so emotional… I’ve been listening to you for so long! Every morning, you knew how to accompany my routine so well. Your presence was and is so reassuring… It’s a loss in my case. I wish you great projects, and I hope to see you again and again on screen for a long time.
