The general director of the Sept-Îles Development Chamber of Commerce, Paul Lavoie, said last March that energy would be an element determining to attract businesses to the North Shore.

Denis Miousse hopes that the ministry will not forget the area of Sept-Îles, Port-Cartier and Uashat mak Mani-utenam for the next granting of energy blocks.

Pierre Fitzgibbon did not indicate to the members present during the meeting whether companies from the North Shore would be chosen by the ministry.

During discussions concerning the energy infrastructure of the county of Sept-Rivières, the various political and economic actors also expressed their desire to see the Arnaud substation be improved.

Mr. Fitzgibbon is very aware that if we want to bring in new energy-intensive industries, the Arnaud position will have to be improved.

The general director and industrial commissioner of Développement économique Port-Cartier, Bernard C. Gauthier, recalls that the energy infrastructure of the North Shore is a major attraction for foreign companies.

However, certain infrastructures, such as the Arnaud station, simply no longer meet demand, according to him.

In addition, he fears that the possible update of the Arnaud position, which will not be done next weekaccording to Minister Fitzgibbon, is happening far too slowly for companies considering short-term industrial projects.

The minister was attentive to our speech

According to Denis Miousse, the Minister of Energy and Regional Economic Development was attentive about the various stakeholders from the business community, the Port of Sept-Îles, Port-Cartier and the Cégep de Sept-Îles and receptive.
