A 35-year-old man was shot and injured during the night from Wednesday to Thursday in Thetford Mines, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

MRC des Appalaches police officers were alerted by calls to 911 around 11:30 p.m. about an armed attack in a residence located on rue St-Alphonse Sud.

On site, the victim was located with serious injuries and transported to a hospital center, but there is no fear for his life, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

However, we do not know if other people were in the residence at the time of the incident, but no suspect has been arrested in the case at this time.

A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene which the forensic identification technicians were to analyze, indicated SQ spokesperson Catherine Bernard.

SQ Major Crimes investigators have opened an investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding this armed attack, it was added.
