A fatal accident involving a trucker occurred early Friday afternoon at the Viau terminal of the Port of Montreal.

The tragedy unfolded shortly before 2 p.m., said Renée Larouche, director of communications for the Port of Montreal.

THE SPVM did not provide further details on the identity of the victim.

The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) will investigate the circumstances of the event.

The port’s newest container terminal, the Viau terminal is located near the intersection of Viau and Notre-Dame Est streets. It has been operated since 2016 by Termont Montreal.
