“Putting forward a compulsive liar opened the doors to a feminine universe different from that of the first film. Finding Anne-Élisabeth and Antoine, two virtuosos capable of exploring the most delirious corners of comedy while remaining anchored in a deep emotional truth, is a real joy. I’m gathering around them a family of equally talented actors who will be fully immersed in the changing multiverse, forced to adopt versions of themselves mirroring Virginia’s lies. I’m looking forward to it!” says director, co-writer and co-producer Émile Gaudreault in the press release sent Thursday afternoon.

It is also indicated that Liar is the biggest popular success of Quebec cinema since 2019, with revenues estimated at more than $6.2 million. The release of its sequel, supported by Telefilm Canada and distributed by Immina Films, is scheduled for summer 2025.

The rest of the cast will be announced later, but in all likelihood, Louis-José Houde will not be back in the central role of Simon Aubert.
