Swiss Cycling announces two changes for the mixed relay of the World Championship. This Wednesday, Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) and Mauro Schmid (Team Jayco AlUla) will not participate in the event held on home soil, around Zurich. The two riders will focus on the road race scheduled for next Sunday.

They will be replaced by Johan Jacobs (Movistar) and Silvan Dillier (Alpecin-Deceuninck). The rest of the relay will be composed of Stefan Bissegger (EF Education-EasyPost), Elise Chabbey (Canyon // SRAM Racing), Elena Hartmann (Roland Cycling Team) and Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Cannondale).

“With the fans in mind, we would have liked to field our best line-up. But the impact of this choice must be put into perspective. The last editions of the team relay have shown that women make the difference, because the performance density is considerably higher at the international level among men. Our women’s team has talent, but it will be difficult to defend the title without our locomotive Marlen Reusser.”said Patrick Müller, Head of Sport at Swiss Cycling.

As a reminder, Switzerland has won the last two mixed relay World Championships.
