Drug trafficking: Two arrests and seven weapons seized in Quebec

Two people were arrested as part of the fight against drug trafficking in Quebec on Tuesday afternoon. They had several weapons in their possession.

Around 2:20 p.m., the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) went to the Neufchâtel sector to conduct a search of a private residence.

Two men, aged 24 and 52, were arrested. They will face charges of possession of a restricted weapon, drug trafficking, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and theft of more than $5,000.

Several weapons seized

On site, the police therefore got their hands on seven loaded firearms, including two .12 calibers and five types of rifles and their ammunition.

The operation also resulted in the confiscation of 1,700 prescription drug tablets intended for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

560 tablets of this type of drug were also recovered by the SPVQ, as was equipment that could be used for drug trafficking.

The 24-year-old suspect must appear during the day on Wednesday at the Quebec courthouse, while the second person involved in this case was released on a promise to appear.
