Like the member countries and kingdoms of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Senegal demonstrates its support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, speaking at the 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Banjul, Gambia from May 4 to 5, 2024, invites the entire Islamic Ummah to an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the two-State solution, the only guarantee of lasting peace in the region.
“I renew Senegal’s unwavering support for the legitimate demands of our Palestinian brothers and sisters, for a viable and sovereign State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions,” the head of the executive said.
Thus, in front of his peers and brothers in Islam, President Diomaye Faye reiterates his determination for the cause against Islamophobia. “I reiterate here our firm condemnation of Islamophobia, the persecution of Muslim minorities in their own country, particularly in Myanmar, and the terrorism which threatens the existence of several States of our Community, particularly in the Sahel,” concludes the President.
